Vince Gotera publishes The Coolest Month, a collection of April poetry
April 9 release reading for award-winning Cedar Falls poet’s new book
T. S. Eliot once famously wrote, “April is the cruellest month.” Vince Gotera aims to upend that truism with a collection that celebrates poetry during that month. Since 2012, Gotera has made the most of April, writing new poems every day in response to multiple NaPoWriMo and Poem-a-Day prompts. The Coolest Month (Final Thursday Press) brings together the best of those efforts, with a poem for each day of the month. The resulting collection is often funny, sometimes heartbreaking, and always an impressive display of poetic chops.
A release reading for The Coolest Month will be held on Tuesday, April 9 at 7:00 p.m. in 1017 Bartlett Hall on the UNI campus. This event is free and open to the public. Click here to read an interview with Vince Gotera about his new collection.
